Abstract:
This invention presents a method for producing a disinfectant, sodium dichloro-isocyanurate. In the presence of sticking preventive agent, i.e. a mixture of aluminium oxide and stannic oxide or of silicon oxide and stannic oxide, urea is subjected to deamination reaction, and condensation to form the intermediate isocyanuric acid. The isocyanuric acid is then reacted with sodium hypochlorite or with sodium hydroxide while chlorine is introduced, the reaction being carried out under reduced pressure. Finally the said product is obtained with an available chlorine content of 55%, and a conversion as high as 98-100%. The isocyanuric acid does not adhere to reactor wall, the process is easy to operate and suitable for industrial production.
