     This invention relates to the process for prodn. of a plant growth regulator-2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid (ethephon), which process consists of at the vacuum feed of dry hydrogen chloride and acidolysis of di(2-chloroethyl) -2-chloroethyl phosphonate ester.
