| A method for vapor phase catalytic oxidation involving using a fixed bed multi-tube heat-exchanger type reactor having a plurality of reaction tubes, feeding a raw material gas for reaction to the inside of the reaction tube packed with a catalyst to produce a reaction product gas, characterized in that the pressure loss of each reaction tube having a catalyst packed therein is adjusted in a manner wherein a reaction tube showing a pressure loss less than an average pressure loss for the total reaction tubes is additionally packed with an inert material in its portion near the entrance of a raw material gas, or is removed of the catalyst and re-packed with the catalyst, and a reaction tube showing a pressure loss greater than the above average value is removed of the catalyst and then re-packed with the catalyst, so as for the each reaction tube to show a pressure loss within the range of - 20 % of the average value. The method can provide a vapor phase catalytic oxidation method which is almost free of variations in the reaction states in respective reaction tubes. | |||
