| The picric acid is neutralized by sodium hydroxide produced through the hydrolysis of sodium sulfide, which is achieved by the reducing agent sodium hydrosulfide resulted from the hydrolysis. The advantages of this method consist in the removal of impurities, reducing of picric acid consumption, saving of sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid, and reducing of the nitrobenzene content in the sewage. The prodn. mother liq. of this new process may be repeatedly utilized, thus the yield of sodium picramate and DDNP may be raised, and the quantity of sewage are reduced. Instead of active carbon, flue dust is used for adsorbing the filtrate of sewage. | |||
