Abstract:
This invention is characterized by the treatment of raw materials, which can be either the intergrowth of phosphate rock and the acid-insoluble rocks containing potassium or two ores containing these two elements separately, with phosphoric and sulfuric acid, yielding liquid and residue after the acid decomposition. To the latter is then added lime powder or pulverized potassium-containing rocks to prepare a mixture for extraction of potassium after roasting. Potassium sulfate is recovered from the mixture either by subjecting to treatment with cement calcining tail gas or by water extraction after roasting. By subjecting the liquid of acid decomposition and potassium sulphate to different chemical treatment, the desired product, potassium phosphate, will be obtained. The product is mainly used as fertilizer, while the dregs from ore-roasting is used to produce cement.
