Abstract:
The characteristic of this invention lies in making potassium phosphate by using intergrowth of phosphorus ore with potassic rock which is insoluble in sulphuric acid. hydrochloric acid. nitric acid. phosphoric acid and aqua regia, or using the two sorts of above-mentioned ores existing separately as raw materials. The powder of inter growth of phosphorus ore with potassic rock or phosphorous ore powder is first decomposed by dilute hydrochloric acid ; milk of lime (or limestone powder) is then added to the acid decomposition solution to prepare precipitated calcium phosphate. Potassium hydrosulphate is prepared by roasting of preparations of acid decomposition residue or potassic rock powder or a mixture of the two (material A). Then potassium phosphate is made by reaction of the precipitated calcium phosphate and the potassium hydrosulphate under acidic conditions. This product is mainly used as a fertilizer. The tailings of the ore can be used to make cement and by-product gypsum.
