Abstract:
Glass gob, which is drawn from glass melt and stored temporarily in the drawing mould, is preformed before further working. The preforming method uses a convex punch to make a concave or hollow cavity on the glass gob at the mouth of the mould, which is formed into a flat flange to increase the contact surface. At the terminal of the blowing pipe, there is a horizontal connecting plate with a smooth surface. The blowing pipe can connect tightly to the mould when pressed on the contact surface at the mouth. The blowing pipe is free from choking by glass in connecting operation with these tools.
