Abstract:
     A monolithic glass member is produced by a colloidizing in an autoclave in solvent of alcohol using alkoxysilanes as starting material, wherein the heating temp. is higher than the critical temp. of the solvent, when the desired temp. is attained, the pressure is gradually released. Through providing a pre-pressurized gas space in which the pressure is high enough to maintain the total pressure is high enough to maintain the total pressure in the space alway higher than the saturation vapour pressure of the solvent when the temp. rise to the desired value, so as to prevent the solution from boiling.
