Abstract:
     A process for separation of yttrium and preparation of rare-earths mixture at low content of yttrium is disclosed, where-in naphthenic acid-ammonium naphthenate-aliphatic alcohol-kerosene is used as organic extractive phase to extract Y from mixture of rare-earths chlorides containing 50 to 70% of Y2O3 by multi-stage extractions in two step provess in order to seperate and purify Y, and to manufacture mixture rare earths containing low amount of Y (Y2O content less than 0.3%). This process is useful for production of yttrium oxide in commercial scale. Two grades of Y2O3 products can be obtained, that is, purity over 97% (yield, more than 99%) and purity over 99.99% (yield, 94%).
