Abstract:
     A method is invented to refine alumina sol by adding into the sol fresh aluminum of purity of 98 to 99.9 wt.% or aluminum of purity of 99.93 to 99.99 wt.%. Mechanical method is used to remove the separated impurity during or after the refining step. During refining, the way of adding aluminum can be modified in order to increase the efficiency of eliminating the impurities. The alumina sol thus refined contains only 0.0015-0.0050 wt.% Fe and 0.0001-0.0005 wt.% Cu, and is satisfactory for preparing medicines, cosmetics and catalysts, etc.
