Abstract: |
|||
| Sodium aluminate is recovered in the form of cryolite and chiolite from a liquor that has been used to soak the red mud resulting from action on bauxite in the Bayer process, by reacting with hydrofluoric acid. The solid precipitate obtained is dried and calcined. The alumina in solution is precipitated almost quantitively by hydrofluoric acid, even at very low concentrations, in the form of cryolite under certain specified operating conditions. | |||
