Abstract:
     A method of producing sodium nitrate uses Glauber's salt and lime as raw material. Its characteristic is that the neutralization reaction and double decomposition are carried out simultaneously and gradually. The resulted granules of calcium sulfate with two hydrated water become larger and larger and precipitated finally by adjusting the PH value of the reaction soln. slowly with lime. The excess calcium ions are then separated and removed with sodium carbonate (or sodium bicarbonate). Sodium nitrate with purify over 95% may be obtd.. By the said method, not only the cost of prodn. is decreased and the consumption of industrial alkali is saved, but also the sepn. of pptes. is facilitated, the operation is simplified and the purity of the prod. is raised.
