Abstract:
     The method for production of caustic soda utilizes the low quality natural soda, containing more than 30% sodium chloride and sodium sulfate. The mother liquor obtained after clarification of the natural soda solution is subjected to heating and admixing with ammonium bicarbonate. Sodium carbonate obtained after double decomposition is then subjected to causticizing by calcium hydroxide to give caustic soda. This production process may solve the problems of formation of a great amount of precipitates and low yield of caustic soda on using low-quality natural soda as starting material. This production technology is simple and is suitable for industrial units which produce caustic soda from low-quality natural soda.
