Abstract:
    Provided is an electrophoretic dispersion capable of preventing aggregation of electrophoretic particles with one another, an electrophoresis display device using the electrophoretic dispersion, a method for manufacturing the electrophoresis display device, and an electronic appliance superior in display performance. The electrophoresis display device 20 has a first substrate 1 equipped with a first electrode 3, a second substrate 2 equipped with a second electrode 4 opposite to the first electrode 3 and an electrophoretic dispersion 10 provided between the first substrate 1 and second substrate 2. The electrophoretic dispersion (dispersion for an electrophoresis display unit) 10 comprises a liquid phase insulative dispersion medium 6 with electrophoretic particles dispersed therein, the particles electrophoretically migrating under an influence of an electric field. As the electrophoretic particles, inorganic particles 5a and resin particles 5b colored with a color different from that of the inorganic particles 5a and further having an electrostatic charge polarity opposite to that of the inorganic particles 5a are included.
