Abstract:
    A carrying bag 10 has at least one expansible panel 20 which constitutes at least one part of the outer wall of the bag. The expansible panel is a composite material consisting of an elastic sheet 22 made of knitted fabric and many long and narrow strips 24 which are durable and substantially made of non-expansible material. The strips are tightly connected to the sheet by sutures 26 near the center of each strip in the longitudinal direction. So the remaining part of the sheet under the major part of the strips can freely be stretched.
