Abstract:
    A umbrella, for opening and closing by a small manipulated variable the umbrella for allowing the lower runner to ascent and descend automatically from a position on the way of opening and closing the umbrella on the umbrella handle by a spring extended and provided between the lower runner and a rib. On the umbrella handle 1, an outer cylinder 8 is fitted, the lower runner 3 is installed so as to be slidable on the outer cylinder, in the upper end part of the outer cylinder, the middle runner 9 is fitted so as to be slidable, and between the middle runner and a rib 5, an auxiliary rib 10 of short length is provided. A projection 11 for pushing the middle runner 9 at the time of opening the umbrella and depressing the lower runner at the time of closing the umbrella by an ascending/descending operation of the outer cylinder by an ascending/descending operation part 12 in the lower part of the outer cylinder is provided fixedly on the outer cylinder.
