Abstract:
     The present invention includes systems utilizing, and methods for generating, a unified user profile (112) to provide a transparent interface to multiple data sources. A base user java bean is obtained to work through a personalization server (110) and access a personalization database (104). The base user java bean provides a transparent interface through which implicit and explicit properties can be retrieved and updated. An enterprise java bean is then created to extend the base user java bean such that the implicit and explicit properties can further be retrieved and updated from an external user database through the transparent interface.
