Abstract:
    A holographic recording medium (10) comprises a recording layer (12), two substrates (14, 16) sandwiching the recording layer (12), and a photosensitive protective layer (18) wholly covering the recording layer (12) and the substrates (14, 16). The photosensitivity of the recording layer (12) to the recording wavelength decreases near the recording wavelength from the short wavelength side to the long wavelength side. The light transmittance of the photosensitive protective layer (18) to the recording wavelength decreases near the recording wavelength from the long wavelength side to the short wavelength side. Thus, without lowering the recording sensitivity, the damage to the recording layer from the environment light exposure is lessened.
