Abstract:
    A hologram recording material and a hologram recording medium suitable for volume hologram recording in which high refractive index variation, high sensitivity, low scattering, environmental resistance, durability, low dimensional variation and high multiplicity are attained without requiring a pre-exposure treatment at the time of recording. The hologram recording material contains a matrix material having a softening point of 50 DEG C or above, and a photopolymerizable monomer which is in liquid phase at room temperature. It is preferable that 50-90 wt% of the matrix material is contained relative to the total of the hologram recording material. The hologram recording material preferably has a softening point of 0 DEG C or above.
