| The present invention relates to a system for measuring axle load. Detection outputs are obtained from an axle load sensor 11R, which is closer to a lane 2 out of axle load sensors 11L, 11R of a lane 1, and an axle load sensor 21L, which is closer to the lane 1 out of axle load sensors 21L, 21R of the lane 2, nearly simultaneously. When a detection output is obtained from neither the axle sensor 11L, which is farther from the lane 2 out of the axle load sensors 11L, 11R of the lane 1, nor the axle load sensor 21R, which is farther from the lane 1 out of the axle load sensors 21L, 21R of the lane 2, it is decided that the traveling vehicle extends over the lane 1 and the lane 2. The gross weight of the traveling vehicle extending over the lanes is then determined by performing addition of an axle load value derived from the detection output of the axle load sensor 11R and an axle load value derived from the detection output of the axle load sensor 21L. The invention can accurately detect overweight from the measurement results of axle loads even when an overweight vehicle travels beyond a boundary with an adjacent lane in order to avoid regulation. | |||
