Abstract:
     In the invented sensor, an inner tube is mounted in the thin tube of J-type communicating ressels; a main optical fiber with top reflecting surface is fixed on the top of the inner tube; lenses are fixed in the inner tube; and at the lower part of the inner tube is fixed a transmission optical fiber which is coupled with an optical cable. Mercury is filled into J-type vessels whose thick tube is sealed by a movable piston at the top. The invention realizes combination of optical fiber with mercury to measure liquid level with wide range and high resolution, and is suitable for use in combustible, explosible and strong electromagnetic interference conditions.
